In the Company of the Prophets

So Christ himself gave some; some apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers.
Ephesians 4:11


Some would argue that the role of the prophet has changed from that of the Old Testament but there is no biblical scripture to support that as fact.

The role of the prophet is multifaceted and varies on the need and the mission to which they are assigned. While the assignments may vary from day to day, region to region and person to person; the prophet is anointed by God as a unique leader of transformation and reformation.

Entrusted with the mind of God, the prophet reveals the plans of God. Entrusted with the vision of God, the prophet reveals what God sees. Entrusted with the mouth of God, the prophets decrees and manifests the will of God.

Some search for destiny's answers in the stars. Some seek the path of destiny as charted in their palms. Some consults psychics, witches, warlocks and the dead souls of time past in search of counsel and direction.

Even so, some leave there life to chance. And then, some have the motto "Whatever the Lord wills" but they never really get to know His will specifically or presently.

Authentic prophetic ministry provides insight and revelation to the spiritual realm as it affects the natural -- that is otherwise unknown by the natural senses and the other four offices of church leadership.

During this time some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. One of them, named Agabus, stood up and through the Spirit predicted that a severe famine would spread over the entire Roman world. (This happened during the reign of Claudius.) The disciples, as each one was able, decided to provide help for the brothers and sisters living in Judea. This they did, sending their gift to the elders by Barnabas and Saul. Acts 11:27-29

From this scripture, we see that these prophets in the New Testament saw into their immediate future a famine that was sure to cause great destruction. From this prophecy, the people prepared accordingly and reached out to others in their community with a plan of rescue and provision.

In the company of the prophets, there is...

...Warning of things to come.
...Preparation for the future.
... Divine plans for averting destruction.

But Jehoshaphat asked, "Is there no prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of the Lord through him? 2 Kings 3:11

In the company of the prophets…

...There is revelation.
... There is spiritual illumination.
... There is strategic information.

Judas and Silas, who themselves were prophets, said much to encourage and strengthen the believers. Acts 15:32

In the company of the prophets…

…The heart and mind of God is revealed.
...There is encouragement.
…There is strength. 

And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped...Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace."
Luke 8:43-44; 47-48

Here we see that it was her faith in the anointing on the prophet Jesus and not Jesus that caused this woman's healing. She didn't wait around for a word from Jesus. She didn't wait around for a touch from Jesus. She simply reached out and touched his anointing by faith.

He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward. Matthew 10:41

There is a tangible anointing on the prophet that releases the power of God and it is available to all who can believe beyond their sickness, circumstances and problems. The prophet is a natural man like any man but the anointing is supernatural. When you put your trust in the anointing that makes the man or the woman a prophet, you will be rewarded with the supernatural power on the prophet.
